The maximum Salaries of London teachers were raised 30 per cent

The prospects of promotion are extremely small and remote. There are but thres Senior appointments and those amongst a staff of masters The number 2% in normal times. of these appointments Queen's College has two, ----- Headmaster and Second master

Ellis Kadoorie School, one.

The other five Government School have no Senior appointments.

This is in very striking contrast with the Public Works Department whera, amongst an Enginearin; Staff of 22, there are appointments for seven Executive engineers and three still higher poste, allof which carry increased emoluments and come within the aspirations of the most junior engineer on the staff of that Department.
